چکیده

In modern cities, a gradual increase of motorcycles and other types of Powered Two-Wheelers (PTW) are observed as an answer to long commuting in traffic jams and complex urban navigation. Such increasing penetration of PTW creates mixed traffic flow conditions with unique characteristics that are not well understood. Unlike cars, PTWs filter between cars, have unique dynamics, and do not respect lanes discipline, therefore requiring a different modeling approach than traditional ’Passenger Car Equivalent’ or ’Follow the Leader’. Instead, this work proposes to model the flow of PTWs similarly to a fluid in a porous medium, where PTWs ’percolate’ between cars as function of the gap between them. Our contributions are as follows: (I) a characterization of the distribution of the gap between vehicles by the densities of PTWs and cars; (II) a definition of the equilibrium speed of each class as a function of the densities of PTWs and cars; (III) an impact analysis of the gradual penetration of PTWs on cars and on heterogeneous traffic flow characteristics. keyword Multiclass traffic flow model; Motorcycle; PTW; Porous flow; Traffic impacts analysis Gashaw, Goatin, Härri 2

Modeling and scheduling no-idle hybrid flow shop problems

Although several papers have studied no-idle scheduling problems, they all focus on flow shops, assuming one processor at each working stage. But, companies commonly extend to hybrid flow shops by duplicating machines in parallel in stages. This paper considers the problem of scheduling no-idle hybrid flow shops. A mixed integer linear programming model is first developed to mathematically form...

Modeling and Analysis of Handling-Stability of Passenger Cars

A nonlinear model consisting “yaw, roll, longitudinal, lateral and pitch” has been developed in which, tire and suspension characteristics have been considered. Tire model is based on the elliptic concept and tire Calspan data. According to this tire model, cornering force and aligning moment are computed as a function of slip and camber (inclination) angles, normal load, tire adhesion characte...

Adaptive Traffic Signal Control Under Mixed Traffic Condition

The growing use of powered two wheelers (PTWs), coupled with their unique moving behaviors, has considerably influenced the overall traffic characteristics, requiring new approaches to traffic management and monitoring strategies. The present paper studies the effect of two-wheelers traffic on adaptive traffic signal control (ASC) and the methods to optimize the control plan for traffic flow co...

تحلیل جریان خارجی با استفاده از تلفیق جریان لایه مرزی و جریان ایده آل

In this paper, the analysis of two dimensional viscous incompressible flow around bodies with multiple industrial applications, is presented. Both of boundary layer flow and potential flow have been analysed repeatedly and in this way, the major parameters of flow are calculated. Laminar and turbulent boundary layer flow are solved with the aid of an virtual flow normal to the surface of the bo...

An Alternating Direction Implicit Method for Modeling of Fluid Flow

This research includes of the numerical modeling of fluids in two-dimensional cavity. The cavity flow is an important theoretical problem. In this research, modeling was carried out based on an alternating direction implicit via Vorticity-Stream function formulation. It evaluates different Reynolds numbers and grid sizes. Therefore, for the flow field analysis and prove of the ability of the sc...
